I think a radio show discussing everyone’s favorite social media site would be really cool. Everyone would be able to discuss why which site is their favorite and maybe which site is even their least favorite. Different aspects and features of each site can also be discussed. Hopefully some people would even be able to introduce new sites that other students haven’t discovered yet!
I find that sound is vital to telling stories especially online. Sound is the only way to impart meaning and convey emotions. With that being said sound is what brings a story to life in many ways. Interviews capture the voice of those being covered and creates a centerpiece for audio narratives. Atmospheric sounds also help create a “mood” in writings. Voiceovers can also help tell the story and weave elements together.
I really enjoyed getting to learn more about photography this week. Now when I take photos I will have a better idea how to take a proper photo and analyze it. I also had a good time doing this weeks visual assignments as well. I didn’t really run into any problems getting this weeks tasks done. The only thing that kind of drove me crazy was sending the photos from my phone to my computer.
- Take a photo of an object that represents how old you feel.
- No ocean, surely you can find some water around you to take a photo of.
- The theme is red. Red hot? Red paint? Or something else? You decide.
- Sometimes perfection is the enemy. Take a photo that represents a beautiful mess.
- Find a printed newspaper and make a photo any way you like!
- Someone else’s hand (or paw)
- Take a picture that reminds you of your childhood
I started my photoblitz at 6:39pm and was able to collect 5 out of the 7 photos.

For this photo map I choose a vacation I took in 2012 in Colorado. I went through my pictures and found ones that were spread out through the area of CO that I was visiting. I think that this assignment actually turned out quite well and I really enjoyed using Knightlab.
My level of photography goes as far as taking photos on my Iphone. I mostly take photos when I am with friends or on vacation. I think lighting and the angle are key factors to most photography which I will try to incorporate into my photos. My favorite time to take photos is when I am on vacation and can get shots of nature scenes.
I choose to do the camp poster assignment in the visual category and it was worth 4 stars! It asked for me to create a summer camp I wish I could have gone to when I was a child and I would have loved to gone away to camp in a national park but luckily I was able to travel with my parents and visit them that way! I used snapchat and another app to create this.
For my second assignment I choose to create a dream home/room on pinterest which is also 4 stars! I think pinterest can be related to this weeks discussion as many people people pin to tell a story about what they have created in their home or their latest trip abroad. So I have decided to share my tiny house board with everyone. I would love a tiny house in the future as a second home somewhere rustic and in the middle of nowhere. As for my tiny house I would like to have it built custom with a full size bath and an inclosed bedroom. Large windows would also be a must!
I really enjoyed reading this and easily got the idea he was going for. Before this article I had never really thought of it the way he put it but blogging is digital storytelling. The internet has given us a way to share stories virtually wether its through a WordPress blog, Tumblr, or even a video blogger on Youtube. The idea of digital storytelling has grown into a huge society. The tv show Amazing Race even did a season with all contestants that were famous through social media. Digital storytelling is just the present version of traditional storytelling!
I choose to read A Domain of One’s Own in a Post-Ownership Society by Andreas Walters. In the article she spoke of wanting to own your domain and claiming what is yours through the internet. I found this a bit interesting considering I never thought that anything on the internet belonged to me but was a communal source for all.
My understanding of ownership is that something belongs to me. That I have already acquired it or been gifted it. And I own it until I die, no additional payment required. If I own it and I die, it passes to my heirs.
I’m curious how this definition would apply to ownership of something theoretical like the web and our ideas. I know we own our ideas but the web is something that isn’t tangible. Like for instance I like to think of my facebook page. While it holds all my ideas and photos I still do not own it? Personally, I find the web as more of a place that we all can prosper and share instead of having to “own” everything.
